Monday, 29 December 2008:  Martin Sweeney captured the Tony Passarelli Memorial 3200
in a PR time of 9:50.68 at today's Passarelli Invitational at Drew University.  Tony Passarelli
was a long-time coach at the Delbarton School who ultimately lost his life to cancer.  
Freshman Erin Pierce finished an impressive second in the girls 1600.  Results can be found

Monday, 22 December 2008:  Martin Sweeney placed first in the boys 1600 and Sarah
Canfield captured the girls triple jump at the Spiked Shoe Holiday Festival, held at the New
Balance Track & Field Center in New York City.  Results can be found

Saturday, 22 November 2008:  Martin Sweeney competed in today's NJSIAA Cross Country
Meet of Champions.  This was the first appearance in this meet by an SPFHS runner since
2003.

Sunday, 16 November 2008:  Martin Sweeney placed 10th in the NJSIAA Group III Cross
Country Championship, tying his Holmdel Park PR with a time of 16:37, becoming the first
SPFHS medal-winner at this meet since 2003.  The boys team placed 15th out of 20 teams.  
Brittney Veeck placed 23rd in the girls race.

Saturday, 8 November 2008:  Martin Sweeney placed 3rd in the NJSIAA North II Group III
State Sectional Cross Country Championship to lead the boys team to a 5th-place finish and
a berth in the NJSIAA Group III Cross Country Championship.  Brittney Veeck placed 8th in
the girls race to advance as an individual.  The girls team placed 6th.

Saturday, 1 November 2008:  In recognition of her dominating victory at the Watchung
Conference Cross Country Championship, Brittney Veeck was featured in the Varsity
Spotlight of the Courier News.

Wednesday, 29 October 2008:  Martin Sweeney placed 3rd in the Union County Cross
Country Championship in less-than-ideal conditions.  The boys team placed 4th in the team
scoring.  Brittney Veeck recorded a top-10 finish in the girls race.

Thursday, 23 October 2008:  Brittney Veeck crossed the finish line first for the second
consecutive year at the Watchung Conference Cross Country Championship.  Winning by 59
seconds, her time of 19:23 established a new SPFHS record for the Warinanco Park dual
meet course.  Martin Sweeney was our top boys finisher, placing second.  The boys and girls
teams both finished second in the team standings.  This was a phenomenal day for our
team, with nearly every competitor running a PR for the course.

Thursday, 16 October 2008:  Our dual meet season came to a close with victories over
Union and Shabazz.  The boys and girls teams each finished with a record of (8-1) as Martin
Sweeney and Brittney Veeck completed their dual meet sweeps.  The boys team now has a
dual meet record of (96-17) since 1997 and the girls team has a dual meet record of (55-7)
in the years 1997 and 2003-2008.

Saturday, 4 October 2008:  Martin Sweeney and Brittney Veeck placed 10th in their races
at the Shore Coaches Invitational.  Sweeney's time of 16:37 was a new PR for the Holmdel
Park course and Veeck's time was the second fastest in school history for the course.

Saturday, 27 September 2008:  Martin Sweeney placed 2nd overall in the Varsity A Division
of the Stewart Memorial Invitational on the Warinanco Park Championship Course to lead
the boys team to a 5th place finish out of 15 teams.  Brittney Veeck placed 9th in the girls
race.
