MISCELLANEOUS NOTES & COMMENTS
  • This was our first trip to this meet as well as our first-ever night race.
  • Competition included a number of top programs in the area, plus a few teams
    from outside of the area.
  • What was meant to be an early season test on a flat, fast course in cool
conditions under the lights was hampered by unfortunate weather conditions.
  • Since this was our first race on this course, we have inaugural school records
for Freedom Park.  The boys' record is now 17:21, set by our first male finisher,
Alex Parker.  The girls' record is now 20:58, set by our first female finisher,
Kathleen Leeper, who was making her cross country debut.  Both times are
    also SPFHS junior class records.
  • Other class records are now held by Brandon Wheeler (senior boys) at 17:53
and Jon Kerby (sophomore boys) at 18:29.  No freshman boys competed and
all of the girls who raced are juniors.
  • As a result of having never run this course before, it is difficult to quantify how
much time was lost due to the weather conditions being as they were.  Since
we had the last two races of the day, course conditions were worst when we
    ran.
  • Kyle Mahoney's time of 18:40 in the JV race was faster than four of our boys'
    varsity finishers.
  • Ali Pearl, Kaitlyn Magnus, Lauren Williams, and Meghan Cunningham all
competed in their first cross country races.
  • The unknown finisher listed in the varsity boys results was presumably
someone who crossed the finish line without a tag.  This runner had to be
either from Millburn or Montgomery, as they each had six finishers rather than
seven.  This runner was not counted in the results for team scoring purposes.
